A very special Xmas tramp
Day 1
- An epic hike up to lake Mavis
- Simons first drone goes MIA
- We are so unit. It was a real slog to get up to the pass and then a steep climb up to the lake
- As soon as you see the lake and the climb flattens out a bit, you get a second wind
- Our first time using our tarp tent and bivy bag
- Promises of marriage
Day 2
- Original plan was to hike up to Mt Owen before dropping down to Edwards Valley, but after yesterdays epic we canned that idea
- Steep up then mix of scree slopes and a bit of glissading to get to a nice little lake for lunch
- Hard going the rest of the way having to route find through the bluffs and rock hop down to the valley
- Completely knackered after a full day so we just found a spot in the valley to camp
Day 3
- A relatively easy and flat walk back out to the car.
- Baking hot

- Bealey River to Lake Mavis: +/-12km – 9.5hrs
- Lake Mavis to Random Camp in Edwards Valley: +/-8km – 8hrs
- Camp to Car: +/-10km – 4hrs
